The Bengal cat is a hybrid breed formed by crossing the local cat with an Asian Leopard cat. The desire of such cross-breeding is to make a domestic cat looks like a wild feline but has the temperament of a local cat. Bengal cat personality is wonderful and has such a wild beauty that we could spend hours contemplating it.

Before adopting a Bengal cat, it is better to know if the Bengal cat personality and temperament of this amazing breed right for you.

Bengal cat personality

Bengal cat personality is just too vigorous and very nice. They require a loving and active family that can give them the love and attention that they require.

Bengals are intelligent

Bengal cats are considered as one of the most intelligent breeds of cats. They can even switch lights on and off and some can figure out how to open and close doors. They need a timely intellectual stimulation after which they respond really well to their masters.

Their Love for Water

Water is one of the things many cats hate the most, Bengals are the total opposite. Their love and playing in water are one of the things that are very common with Bengals and may follow their owners to the bath or shower. The shower is a favorite, the bathtub, the sink, and their water bowls.

Bengal cat personality: Fearless

One of the biggest Bengal cat personality traits is that they are practically fearless. Because they always want to be the dominant animal, they tend to play rough with other animals.

Bengals are Energetic

Bengals are an extremely active breed. They are the Ferrari’s of the cat world. They have an endless supply of batteries when they’re ready to hit the play button. In order to expend their energy, they need to play and be stimulated a lot.

Physical body

Bengal cat coat

The charm of the Bengal cat personality may only be eclipsed by its beauty.

The most distinct spec of the Bengal cat is its very thick, soft, and uniquely patterned coat. There are 2 distinct patterns recognized within the Bengal cat breed. Those are marbleized and spotted.

The spotted coat is closed to its leopard ancestor, featuring leopard dots in varying shades of rust, brown, sand, orange, gray and black. The marbleized coat is formed from the mixing of the Asian Leopard cat with a local tabby to make splotches that look more like marble.

In either case, the Bengal cat has a look that is both amazingly wild and beautiful.

Other than the coat, another distinguishing spec that sets it apart from other cats is its muscle body, more famous in males than females. Bengal cats are very sleek, athletic, and muscular.

Temperament

The Bengal cat loves to play and interact. This is not to say they will not seek out a soft lap or chair in which to lie for a nap, but for the majority of the day, they are extremely active cats. Being a top power cat, they are not for someone looking for a docile animal to lounge around the home and look pretty.

The exotic heritage of this cat makes it special as a Bengal cat personality. Even though it takes 5 generations of Bengal-to-Bengal breeding to make a line recognized as a Bengal cat, these felines have a wild family heritage and some of those instincts can still be viewed in late generations through their high energy, extreme intelligence, and innate curiosity.

On top of having personality, they are a life force once they enter your home. The Bengal is a loyal friend with a sweet personality.
